APRIL 2005

It's spring, daylight savings time, and mud season all together. The snow is almost all gone, and I'm weaving wool rag rya objects in the workshop like a madwoman. In my mind I can see a rag rya cat and a rag rya fox! See them soon on this website.

Stuck in my head now is the old song The House Wife's Lament, by Mrs. Sara A. Price:

One day I was walking I heard a complaining,
I saw a poor woman the picture of gloom.
She gased at the mud on her doorstep ('twas raining)
and this was her song as she wielded her broom:

Life is a toil and love is a trouble
Beauty will fade and riches will flee
Wages will dwindle and prices will double
And nothing is as I would wish it to be.

There's too much of worriment that goes to a bonnet
There's too much of ironing that goes to a shirt
There's nothing that pays for the time you waste on it
There's noting that lasts us but trouble and dirt.
